Mental Health First Aid Training on December 13–14
CRD College of Health Care successfully conducted a two-day Mental Health First Aid Training on December 13–14, aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to recognize, respond to, and support individuals experiencing mental health challenges and crises.
The training was facilitated by Grace Lanceta, Nurse Educator and Director of CRD College of Health Care. Through a structured and interactive approach, participants engaged in meaningful discussions, real-life scenarios, and practical strategies aligned with Canadian mental health standards.
This comprehensive two-day session emphasized early intervention, effective communication, and compassionate support, empowering participants to confidently provide first-line mental health assistance in healthcare, workplace, and community settings.
Program Overview
The Mental Health First Aid Program provides foundational knowledge and practical skills focused on:
- Understanding mental health and mental illness
- Recognizing signs and symptoms of common mental health challenges
- Responding to crisis situations, including anxiety, depression, and substance-related concerns
- Applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan
- Reducing stigma and promoting mental health awareness
Participants benefited from a supportive learning environment that encouraged reflection, discussion, and real-world application.
